Bill Allred


    Bill's musical legacy started, indirectly, in the city of New Orleans, Bill's Grandmother Ida was born near New Orleans. His father, John, was a pianist and banjoist on many of the steamboats of the great "Strekfus Line," playing in and around New Orleans. Bill was born near the Mississippi River in Rock Island, Illinois.

    Bill performed in College and the U.S. Navy and was a staff musician with the opening day crew at Walt Disney World In Orlando, FL., October 1st. 1971. His solo jazz performances have taken him to the major jazz festivals and concerts in the United States and abroad. He has appeared with Jack Teagarden, Billy Butterfield, Warren and Allan Vache, Peanuts Hucko, Acker Bilk, Al Hirt, Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, Al Cohen, Zoot Sims, Snooky Young, Bob Cooper, Milt Hinton, Bob Haggart, Barrett Deems, Louis Bellson, Roy Williams, Buddy DeFranco, to mention a few.

    His Jazz and big band experience includes: The Wild Bill Davison Band, The World's Greatest Jazz Band, Billy Maxted, and the big bands of Bob Crosby, Tex Beneke, Buddy Morrow, Ray McKinley, Dick Hyman and Bob Wilber and Ray Charles.

    Bill's many recordings include Wild Bill Davison, as well as jazz dates with with Nagel-Hyer, Sunjazz, Good Time Jazz and Arbors including a recent Arbors all-star CD, with his son John: NEW YORK SESSIONS.

    Bill's CLASSIC JAZZ BAND, is still going strong after 26 years, has 13 CD's on the top music sites. Their web site is Bill now lives in Orlando, Florida where he does music production for Disney World and other entertainment companies and maintains an active jazz program.
